DTR
(Define the Relationship”
Defining the
relationship is the most important thing to do in relationships. These days,
relationships have become so complicated that defining them has become so
crucial. Relationships are supposed to be treated delicately because people
invest their feelings into them. Defining relationships is not so easy. It is
the most awkward and uncomfortable moment in the relationship that is why in modern
dating, official labels aren’t the commonality; instead we see foggy,
unspecified couples that can lead to a fair share of awkward moments. For those
involved in misty, vague connections, there’s a time and a method for defining
the relationship.
There is no
appropriate time to have “the talk”. It differs from one relationship to the
other. Some relationships grow so fast while others take things slow so you
should be able to tell when your relationship has reached the point of DTR.
There are a lot of things to look at before you DTR. First of all, you have to
be sure that your partner is on the same page with you as far as the
relationship is concerned. Moving too fast might scare some people off. Listen
to your partners views. It should be more of a discussion. You should tell your
partner what you think but should also listen to what they have to say.
Don’t
impose, don’t
put pressure on your partner, Don’t give them ultimatums because
that is a huge relationship spoiler.
Do it in a private,
relaxed environment. It is a talk you should have just with your partner and
not with other people. Be prepared for any outcome. Remember, feelings
are not visible so there is no guarantee on how the other person will take it.
Being prepared will prevent any outburst which might just make things worse.
Personally, I won’t want to DTR over a text message or social media. If you are
really serious, then you should meet face to face except in the case of LDRs (Long
distant relationships). Bringing up “the talk” should not just be the guy’s
job. The girl can bring it up if she needs to know. Don’t put off “the talk”
because you are unsure or scared of what the other’s reaction might be. It is
something that has to be done at some point so that you both know where you
stand rather than waste each other’s time. I talked with a few friends about
this and they had different opinions on the subject. Some said DTR should be
left to the guy. Personally I disagree. What if he never says anything? Well,
that is just my opinion. Let me here yours. Peace!!!
