Procrastination
"Procrastination is a thief of
time". Ponder on that for a moment. We always plan to do stuff and never
get around to doing it or even getting started. There is that voice in our
heads which always reminds us that there is a tomorrow. "You can always do
it tomorrow" it say, "Or the next hour". The truth is there is
always a time of passion when you have what it takes to do something. It is
called the "Spur of the moment". To me, that is the best time to do
anything because when we wait, excuses come in, a lot of other stuff comes
along and blurs that vision to de point that it becomes a distant memory.
I bet a lot of great inventors had to put
aside all the excuses that tried to derail them. I procrastinate all the time
so I guess this article speaks to me personally. Uncountable instances in my
life when I put off one thing or the other for no apparent reason which I later
regret. My alarm clock always goes off at 5am every morning. At that time, I am
wide awake. I know I should get out of bed and pray before I prepare for work
but for some reason I don't. I just lay there and kip playing thoughts in my
head. Before I know it, I'm running late so I have to hurriedly prepare and go
to work and throughout the day, it keeps bugging me, "why didn't you pray
at least? Just for a second?. That’s
just one instance out of a million. It could be the laundry. You postpone it
from Friday to Saturday, Saturday to Sunday and before you know it, it’s Monday
and u have a stack of dirty stuff scrambling for your attention. It could be
anything. From the very little things, to the big things.
My advice here is, don't save Stuff for
tomorrow. Do it NOW while you can and you'll be glad you did. There is no time
like the present. We should have an active and not a passive mentality towards
life. Peace!!!
